What we like
- Side lock actually secures the drawer — useful in coworking spaces and shared homes
- Full-extension ball-bearing slides with smooth soft-close
- Felt-lined interior keeps pens, keys, and electronics from rattling
- Rear cable passthrough handles a charger or short cable run
- 1.2mm carbon steel feels substantially more solid than plastic competitors
Could be better
- 13.8-inch width is narrow — won't fit a full keyboard or large notebooks
- Mounting requires drilling into the underside of your desk
- Black finish shows dust and fingerprints
Full Review
Most under-desk drawers are flimsy plastic trays meant to corral pens. The ERGO COLLECT is something different — a carbon-steel box with a real key lock, designed for people who can’t leave a wallet or passport sitting on their desk all day.
Build Quality
The 1.2mm carbon steel shell is the first thing you notice. It doesn’t flex when you load it up, and the matte black powder coat looks at home under any desk. The full-extension ball-bearing slides glide without the gritty drag you get on cheaper drawers, and the soft-close engages reliably even when the drawer is empty.
Interior dimensions land at 12.4” x 11.4” x 3.3” — enough for a passport, a small camera, two phones, chargers, and a deck of business cards. A felt liner keeps everything from sliding around or scratching when you yank the drawer open.
The Lock Is the Whole Point
Plenty of drawers slide out smoothly. Very few lock. The ERGO COLLECT’s side-mounted key lock isn’t going to stop a determined thief with a screwdriver, but it absolutely stops the casual problem — a roommate, a cleaner, a coworker at a hot desk, a curious kid. Two keys are included.
If you work from a coworking space, share a home office with roommates, or just don’t want your kids getting into your nice headphones, this is the feature that matters. Compare it to the Fezibo under-desk drawer, which is cheaper but has no lock, or the Stand Steady drawer, which also skips the lock.
Installation and Fit
A drilling template is included, and the brackets bolt to the underside of the desk in about 15 minutes. The 5.7-inch vertical footprint means it’ll work under most desks without crowding your legs, though if you’re tall you’ll want to measure your existing under-desk clearance first. The rear cable passthrough is a small but smart touch — you can stash a power bank or a charging cable without leaving the drawer cracked open.
Who Should Buy This
Get the ERGO COLLECT if you work in a shared space, share a home with roommates or kids, or just want a secure spot for valuables that doesn’t take up desk real estate. If you don’t need a lock and just want pen storage, the Fezibo is $30 cheaper and does the same job. If you need to fit a full keyboard or larger items, look at the 20-inch ERGO COLLECT instead — same build, more room, no lock.
