Logitech MX Anywhere 3S Mouse

What we like

  • MagSpeed scroll wheel feels premium and switches between ratchet and free-spin modes
  • Virtually silent clicks — genuinely quiet, not just 'quieter'
  • Tracks on any surface including glass, which almost no other mouse handles well
  • Bluetooth multi-device pairing (up to 3 devices) with easy switching
  • Compact size travels well without feeling toy-like

Could be better

  • Smaller form factor causes hand fatigue on long workdays — not a full-time main mouse for large hands
  • No dedicated side scroll wheel like the MX Master 3S
  • Battery charges via USB-C but doesn't come with a cable

Full Review

The MX Anywhere 3S is the travel-sized sibling of the MX Master line. Logitech kept the best parts — MagSpeed scrolling, Darkfield tracking, and multi-device pairing — and shrank everything into a 99g package. At $49.99, it sits in a sweet spot where you’re not overpaying for a secondary mouse, but you’re also not giving anything up.

Scrolling and Clicks

MagSpeed is the headline feature, and it earns the attention. One click switches from ratchet to free-spin mode, and the free-spin is fast and precise enough to make scrolling through long documents or code actually enjoyable. The silent clicks are legitimately quiet — the kind of quiet that lets you use this in a meeting without broadcasting every misclick. Compared to other “silent” mice that just muffle the click, these feel almost mechanical-quiet.

Tracking on Any Surface

The Darkfield sensor is what separates this from cheaper compact mice. Glass, glossy desks, dark surfaces — it tracks cleanly on all of them. If you’ve ever had a mouse stutter on a glass table or a dark mousepad, this one fixes that problem. For travel use specifically, this matters: hotel desks, conference tables, and random surfaces all become viable.

Multi-Device Workflow

Pairing to three devices and switching between them with a button on the bottom is genuinely useful if you run a laptop alongside a desktop. It’s not instant — there’s a half-second delay — but it beats unplugging and replugging a receiver. The Logi Bolt USB receiver is also included if you prefer a dongle over Bluetooth.

Who Should Buy This

The MX Anywhere 3S is the right pick if you want a travel mouse that doesn’t feel like a downgrade, or a quiet secondary mouse for a multi-monitor setup. It’s not ideal as your only mouse if you spend 8+ hours a day at a desk — the compact size causes fatigue over long sessions. For that, look at the full-size MX Master 3S instead. But for everything else, this is the most capable small mouse at this price.
