Full Review

The NuPhy Air75 V2 fills a real gap in the mechanical keyboard market: a slim, wireless 75% board that doesn’t sacrifice build quality or features to get there. If you want the compact layout and tactile feedback of something like the Keychron K2 but need it to sit flatter on your desk and travel better, this is the keyboard to consider.

Build Quality and Low-Profile Design

The Air75 V2 is noticeably thinner than a standard mechanical keyboard — the low-profile Gateron switches keep the total height at 13.5mm without a wrist rest. The aluminum top frame feels solid and doesn’t flex under hard typing. It’s light enough to toss in a bag daily without thinking about it, but doesn’t feel cheap in your hands. The translucent bottom case is a subtle design touch that shows off the internals without being gimmicky, and the PBT keycaps hold up to daily use without going shiny.

Typing Feel and Hot-Swap Switches

Low-profile switches are divisive. The shorter actuation travel (~2mm vs. 4mm on standard switches) means faster keypresses but less of the satisfying thock that draws people to mechanicals in the first place. The Gateron Brown variants strike a reasonable middle ground — tactile without being loud. Since the board is fully hot-swappable, you can swap to whatever Gateron low-profile switch suits you without a soldering iron. QMK/VIA firmware support means full remapping, macros, and lighting customization are all on the table.

Wireless Performance and Battery

Tri-mode connectivity covers every use case. Bluetooth 5.1 lets you pair up to four devices and switch between them — useful if you’re bouncing between a laptop, desktop, and tablet. Multi-device switching is where NuPhy stumbles slightly: the pairing key combinations aren’t intuitive and switching can lag a couple of seconds. The 2.4GHz dongle drops latency to 1ms polling, making it viable for gaming. Battery life is strong: expect two to three weeks of daily use before charging with the backlight off, and 35–57 hours with it fully on.

Who Should Buy This

The Air75 V2 is the right keyboard if you want a slim, portable wireless mechanical that still has all the enthusiast features — hot-swap, QMK, multi-device Bluetooth, and a real metal frame. It’s a particularly strong pick for anyone who types on their desk without a wrist rest, or moves their keyboard between a standing desk and a bag regularly. If you prefer the deeper travel of full-height switches and don’t mind the extra bulk, the Keychron K2 or K3 are worth comparing. But for desk minimalists and frequent travelers, the Air75 V2 is hard to beat at this price.
