Full Review

FlexiSpot built its reputation on standing desks, and the MA8 carries that same no-nonsense engineering philosophy into monitor arms. At $99.99, it sits in a practical middle ground — meaningfully better than the $30–50 VIVO and North Bayou arms that flood Amazon, without reaching the $150+ territory of an Ergotron LX.

Build Quality and Gas Spring

The arm is built from aluminum with a matte finish that holds up well next to FlexiSpot’s standing desks. The gas spring mechanism is the main reason to buy this over a cheaper arm — it holds your monitor in place without gradual sag, and repositioning is one-handed. Out of the box, tension may need a quick tweak with the included hex key to match your monitor’s weight. Once dialed in, it stays put.

Cable Management

The integrated cable clips and channel routing are actually thoughtful here. Cables run through the arm itself rather than being zip-tied along the outside. It’s not as seamless as the Ergotron LX’s fully concealed channel, but it’s far better than the exposed wiring on budget arms. You’ll end up with a genuinely clean-looking setup.

Mounting and Setup

FlexiSpot includes both a C-clamp and grommet base in the box, which is worth noting — some arms at this price only ship with one option. Installation is straightforward. The quick-release VESA plate makes swapping monitors easy if you share the arm between machines. Desk thickness compatibility is broad, covering most standard and sit-stand desktops.

Who Should Buy This

The FlexiSpot MA8 is the right call if you want a gas spring arm that won’t frustrate you daily, and you’re not willing to spend Ergotron LX money. It’s especially well-suited for FlexiSpot desk owners who want a cohesive setup. If your monitor is heavier than 19.8 lbs or you want the smoothest possible arm on the market, step up to the Ergotron LX. If you have a lightweight screen and a tighter budget, VIVO arms will serve you fine.
