Full Review
The Space One Pro sits in an awkward but valuable spot: $199 puts it well above the budget Soundcore Q45 ($79) but $150 under Sony’s WH-1000XM5. After a few weeks of daily WFH use, I think it’s the most honest recommendation in the category. You’re not getting Sony’s build quality or last-mile ANC polish, but you’re getting 85% of the experience for 57% of the price.
ANC That Actually Works for Open-Plan Offices
The 6-mic adaptive ANC is the headline feature, and it earns it. Steady-state noise — HVAC, fan hum, distant traffic, a partner’s Zoom call in the next room — gets crushed almost completely. It doesn’t quite match the XM5’s eerie silence on sudden noises like a barking dog or a slammed door, but the gap is smaller than the price difference suggests. For typical home office and coffee shop use, you won’t feel shortchanged.
The adaptive mode adjusts ANC strength based on your environment, and unlike some implementations, it doesn’t audibly pump or hiss when it shifts.
Battery and Charging Are Genuinely Class-Leading
40 hours with ANC on is roughly double what Sony and Bose deliver. The 5-minute fast charge for 8 hours of playback is the feature you don’t appreciate until you’re walking into a Monday meeting block with a dead headset. Plug in while you make coffee and you’re set for the day.
Call Quality for Video Meetings
This is where the Space One Pro punches well above $199. The 6-mic array does noticeable work isolating your voice from keyboard noise and background chatter. Colleagues consistently said calls sounded clearer than my previous AirPods Max — high praise for a plastic-bodied headset. If you live in Zoom or Google Meet, this alone justifies the upgrade from earbuds.
Sound and Build
Out of the box, the tuning is bass-forward in a way that flatters podcasts but muddies acoustic music. Ten minutes in the Soundcore app to flatten the EQ fixes it. LDAC support means proper Hi-Res streaming if you’re on Android or a compatible DAC.
The build is the obvious compromise. Plastic everywhere, hinges that feel okay but not reassuring, and earcup padding that’s comfortable for 3-4 hour stretches but not the daylong wear of pricier options.
Who Should Buy This
Buy the Space One Pro if you want serious ANC and excellent call quality for video meetings without spending $349 on Sony’s flagship. It’s the right call for WFH workers, frequent travelers, and anyone who’s outgrown $80 headphones but can’t justify $300+. If you want absolute best-in-class ANC and premium materials, save up for the WH-1000XM5 instead. If you only need basic noise blocking for occasional use, the Soundcore Q45 at $79 is still fine.
