Full Review

The MOFT Z solves a specific problem that every laptop user eventually notices: you want a stand, but you don’t want to carry one. By sticking to the bottom of your MacBook and folding flat to 0.1 inches, MOFT makes the stand part of the laptop itself.

The Invisible Design

When folded, the MOFT Z disappears. At 0.1 inches thick and 3 ounces, you won’t feel it in a backpack, and it won’t interfere with sliding your laptop into a sleeve. The PU leather exterior matches the aesthetic of a MacBook better than most accessories — it looks intentional rather than bolted on.

The adhesive backing uses a reusable microsuction material, which means you can reposition it a handful of times before the stickiness starts to fade. On a clean aluminum MacBook bottom, it holds firmly.

Two Angles, Two Use Cases

The 25° angle gives you a modest typing lift — enough to improve airflow and reduce wrist strain without changing your posture much. The steeper 60° “upright” mode raises the screen roughly 3 inches for use with an external keyboard, which is the posture most ergonomists actually recommend.

Neither angle matches the height of a dedicated stand like the Roost or Nexstand, but those require a separate bag. The MOFT trades peak ergonomics for the fact that it’s always with you.

Real-World Tradeoffs

This is not the stand you want if your laptop has bottom vents — covering them will cause thermal issues on an Intel MacBook or a gaming laptop. Apple Silicon MacBooks run cool enough that this doesn’t matter in practice.

The adhesive is the main wear point. After a year of daily use, most people report the pad still holds but feels less grippy. MOFT sells replacement adhesive strips, but it’s an ongoing minor cost.

Who Should Buy This

Buy the MOFT Z if you’re a MacBook user who moves between locations and wants ergonomics you never have to pack. It’s perfect for coffee shop work, co-working spaces, and travel. If you want a stand that stays at your desk, consider the Rain Design mStand or a full laptop riser instead — you’ll get better height and a more stable platform for the same money.
